OpenROV began as an open-source underwater robot project, started in a garage in Cupertino by a group of friends who wanted to explore an underwater cave rumored to hold buried treasure. It grew into a company and a global community of DIY ocean explorers, from professional ocean engineers to hobbyists and students, building more accessible and affordable tools for underwater exploration.
