Overview

Created by MIT social-robotics pioneer Cynthia Breazeal, Jibo raised $3.7M on Indiegogo in 2014 and set the template for expressive tabletop robots. It shipped late, cost $899, lost to smart speakers and the company wound down in 2018. Servers went offline in 2019 before NTT Disruption bought the assets and restored some service for research and health uses. A landmark in social robotics more than a product.
