Overview

A free-walking Olaf from Frozen, presented by Disney Research as 'bringing an animated character to life in the physical world' (IEEE RA-L, 2026). It extends the BDX approach to a character with proportions far from a normal walking robot, using two legs hidden under a foam skirt, linkages in the arms, mouth and eyes, and RL policies that also limit footstep noise and actuator temperature. It appears in the World of Frozen area at Disneyland Paris, which opened on March 29, 2026.
