Rethink Robotics was founded in 2008 in Boston, Massachusetts by Rodney Brooks, who had previously produced the Roomba at iRobot, to give manufacturers a safe, easily trained and affordable type of automation. It introduced the collaborative robot Baxter in 2012 and the smaller, faster Sawyer in 2015. In October 2018 the German HAHN Group acquired its assets and established Rethink Robotics GmbH.
