Overview

Sony revived the aibo line in January 2018 with a far more lifelike, expressive dog, with OLED eyes, face recognition and a personality that develops over time. It is a pet, not a platform. It walks slowly on hard floors and low-pile carpet and does not handle stairs. The Web API exposes high-level behaviors only. Still sold in Japan and the US as of 2026, making it the longest-running consumer robot dog.
