Overview

Ocean One is a humanoid 'robo-mermaid' built so a human pilot can dive virtually. Stereo vision in the head and force-sensing hands give the operator sight and touch. Its maiden mission in April 2016 recovered a vase from La Lune, Louis XIV's flagship lost in 1664 at about 100 m off southern France. The successor OceanOne K, rated to 1,000 m, explored wrecks in 2022 and touched the seafloor at 852 m off Cannes.
