Overview
Announced at Tesla AI Day 2021 (with a person in a suit), shown as a walking prototype in 2022, and refined as Gen 2 in late 2023. Units work in Tesla factories and appear at showrooms and events, but some public demos have been teleoperated. The V3 reveal has slipped repeatedly through 2026 while Tesla converts the Fremont Model S/X line to Optimus production. Consumer sales are targeted for no earlier than 2027.
