Robots for Young Kids Holiday Gift Guide 2026 (ages 3–7)

Robot gifts for children from preschool to second grade. Most teach the first ideas of coding through play, and two need no screen at all. Each entry lists the price, ages and things worth knowing before buying, such as batteries, apps and subscriptions.

Prices checked October 29, 2026.

Coding robots are mostly made for ages 5 and up. For ages 3 and 4, the HEXBUG nano and Robo Fish from the stocking stuffers are simpler choices.

Screen-free coding robots

These robots are programmed with buttons, cards or marker lines, so no phone or tablet is needed.

  1. Botley 2.0

    Botley 2.0

Price $63.44Ages 5+Ships Prime, next day

Kids lay out arrow cards on the floor, press the same arrows on a remote and watch Botley drive the route. Programs can run up to 150 steps and include loops. It also spots obstacles in its path.

Good to know. It takes 5 AAA batteries, which are not included. It can't be coded from a tablet, so it is usually outgrown by about age 8. Amazon had it at $63.44, down from the $79.99 list price.

  2. Ozobot Evo

    Ozobot Evo

Price $175Ages 5–11Ships Prime, next day

A tiny robot that follows lines drawn with markers. Short patterns of colored dots tell it to speed up, turn or spin. Older kids can move on to block coding and Python on a computer, so it lasts for years.

Good to know. The Entry Kit includes the robot, a carrying case, five Color Code markers and a charging cable. It is rechargeable. Amazon sells it from Ozobot's own store.

Robots coded on a tablet

These robots move on to block coding in an app, where kids drag picture blocks to build programs. A tablet or computer is needed.

  1. Codey Rocky

    Codey Rocky

Price $139.99Ages 6+Ships From US warehouses

A small tracked robot with an LED face that shows moods and messages. The head lifts off and works as a handheld gadget with its own buttons and sensors. It codes with blocks in Makeblock's app and later in Python with the same editor.

Good to know. The battery is built in and lasts 1 to 2 hours. Its body takes LEGO bricks. Makeblock's store had it at $139.99, down from $155.99.

  2. Wonder Workshop Dash

    Wonder Workshop Dash

    Price $189.99Ages 6–11Ships About a week

A friendly blue robot with a turning head, lights and sounds that answers to voice commands. It comes fully built and works with several free apps, from simple drawing paths to block coding. Many elementary schools use it, so there are lots of lessons to follow at home.

Good to know. The battery lasts about 5 hours. Coding in JavaScript or Python needs a paid subscription. The Wonder Workshop store quoted delivery on November 3 to 5 for an order placed October 29.

Talking robot

  1. Miko Mini

    Miko Mini

    Price $149Ages 5–10Ships Days (unconfirmed)

A small robot with a screen face that chats with kids, tells stories and plays learning games. It recognizes family members by face and voice. It suits kids who want a robot friend more than a coding toy.

Good to know. Much of the content, including Disney stories, needs the Miko Max subscription at $99 a year after a 30-day trial. In February 2026, US senators' staff found that thousands of the robot's replies to children had been exposed online. Miko then added a parental switch that turns off its AI chat. Miko's store had it at $149, down from $199.
