Remote control: After rooting with Valetudo the robot serves a local web UI, REST API and MQTT, so any computer on the network can control it. Unrooted, it is app only apart from the community Home Assistant integration.
Overview
The X40 Ultra was Dreame's 2024 flagship and introduced the extending side brush and swing-out mop that later models kept. It is one of the few high-end robots on the Valetudo list, and Valetudo rates rooting as relatively easy with warranty seals left intact, though it needs the Dreame Breakout PCB, a Linux laptop and care since a mistake can brick the robot. Rooting removes the Dreame cloud and app entirely. Dreame US now lists both versions as sold out, so it survives mainly as leftover or used stock, replaced by the X50 Ultra and X60, neither of which is rootable.
