Overview

A small open-source walking robot by engineering student Dorian Todd, launched in January 2026, with eight MG90S servos and a little OLED screen that shows animated faces. Everything needed to build one is on GitHub, including CAD, print files, a parts list, build and wiring guides and the ESP32 firmware, and the project puts the parts at $50–60. The firmware hosts its own Wi-Fi control page and a JSON API, and the maker's companion app adds voice conversations through an LLM. With two servos per leg it is simpler than 12-servo dogs like Freenove's ESP32 dog, and it is built for expressive motion rather than rough floors. Complete kits sell in limited rounds, and the second round sold out.
