reBot-DevArm is a 6-axis arm with a parallel gripper from Seeed Studio's open-source team, built from Damiao (B601-DM) or Robstride (B601-RS) brushless actuators with aluminum CNC, sheet-metal and 3D-printed parts. It targets embodied-AI work, with LeRobot, ROS 2, Isaac Sim and Python SDK support, a payload of 1.5 to 2.5 kg and a reach of about 0.75 m. It is OSHWA-certified and was released in late 2025.
At a glance
| Parts cost | $1,500 parts list · Rough sum of the reference prices in the project's parts list for the B601-DM version, about $1,005 of it for motors and $250 for CNC and sheet-metal parts source ↗ |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | 4/5 Advanced · Needs outsourced CNC and sheet-metal parts and CAN motor setup, though the assembly is bolt-together. |
| Build time | Not stated |
| Tools needed | CNC and sheet-metal fabrication service (aluminum 5052 links and spacers), 3D printer (ABS and PLA parts), hex keys or a low-torque electric screwdriver, no soldering for the stock harnesses |
| Motors | B601-DM uses 4x Damiao DM4310 + 3x DM4340P; B601-RS uses Robstride actuators |
| Controller | PC over a Damiao CAN-USB adapter (24V supply for DM, 48V for RS) |
| Sensors | Motor encoders; optional wrist depth cameras |

Builder notes
Practical points from the project's issue tracker, forum and docs, each linked to its source.
- The license changed. The first five months used a non-commercial CC license, and the project moved to CERN-OHL-W 2.0 on 2026-05-11, so older forks and copies may still carry the NC terms. source ↗
- The published parts list is a simplified developer version and differs from Seeed's production kit, which swaps some printed parts for metal and adjusts tolerances. source ↗
- Some retail kits shipped with upgraded harnesses whose molded XT30 connectors don't fit through the older printed forearm filler. Updated STEP files with larger cable holes were shared on Discord. source ↗
- Some individual STEP files in the repo are out of date, and the maintainer advises taking dimensions from the full assembled STEP instead. source ↗
