Overview

A low-cost open brushless arm for LeRobot work, stronger and longer-reaching than servo-based hobby arms.

The reBot Arm B601 is an open-source desktop arm with six axes and a parallel gripper, made by Seeed Studio for embodied-AI learning and teleoperation. It comes in two versions with the same shape. The B601-DM uses Damiao motors on 24 V, and the heavier B601-RS uses RobStride motors on 48 V for a 2.5 kg payload. Buyers choose an unassembled kit, an assembled arm or a Jetson bundle. The optional Star Arm 102 leader arm lets a person teleoperate the arm to record demonstrations, much like the SO-101 but with larger brushless joints.

Every joint is a brushless actuator on a CAN bus, controlled from a host PC through a USB-to-CAN adapter. Seeed's motorbridge Python package, ROS 1 and ROS 2 drivers, Isaac Sim models and LeRobot plugins cover control and imitation learning, with ACT, SmolVLA and Pi0 among the documented policies. The hardware earned OSHWA certification CN000024. Since May 11, 2026 the design files have been under CERN-OHL-W-2.0 and the software under Apache-2.0, replacing the non-commercial license used at launch. Seeed notes that its MIT-mode control API has no software joint limits and recommends staying within about 70% of the reach.
