Overview

The Apogee is German Bionic's second-generation powered back and hip exoskeleton, shown at CES in January 2023 as the successor to the 2018 Cray X, with up to 30 kg of lift support per movement and active walking assistance for logistics, manufacturing and baggage handling. Two siblings followed, the Apogee+ tuned for nurses and care workers, and the Apogee ULTRA from CES 2025 with up to 36 kg (80 lb) of support, over-the-air updates and app-based performance tracking, which took pre-orders from January 2025. Since May 2025 the company's flagship is the Exia with 38 kg of support, and the official site now lists Apogee only as an "other product", so whether the ULTRA stays in the line long term is unclear (unconfirmed). Units are sold or leased to companies through the sales team with no public pricing, with the only published figures being the $9,900 Apogee+ and a reported ULTRA rental of about $470 per month (unconfirmed). Rivals in the same class include the IX BACK VOLTON at 17 kg and the soft SafeLift.
