exoIQ S700

Overview

The S700 is an active shoulder exoskeleton from exoIQ in Hamburg for assembly, overhead drilling, grinding and other work with the arms raised, and the same design is sold through tool dealers as the Festool ExoActive. Unlike the passive spring shoulder exos common in factories it is pneumatic, with a small compressor on the back and Festool 18 V batteries, so the support can be switched or scaled on the fly from a panel on the chest and paused for ground-level tasks. It fits people from 1.65 to 2.05 m without tools and goes on in seconds through a quick-release belt system. The catches are weight, 7.2 kg before the battery, and the usual warnings against use with a pacemaker or in explosive atmospheres. It is sold to companies at a published price of about $4,100 (€3,500 ex VAT) or leased from €79.80 a month, with on-site and online demos available.
