Overview

Created by MIT social-robotics pioneer Cynthia Breazeal, Jibo raised $3.7M on Indiegogo in 2014 and set the template for expressive tabletop robots. It shipped late, cost $899, lost to smart speakers and the company wound down in 2018; servers went offline in 2019 before NTT Disruption bought the assets and restored some service for research and health uses. A landmark in social robotics more than a product.
