Overview

A cheap, sturdy way to put a walking robot on a Raspberry Pi, best treated as a coding toy rather than a real biped.

A small Raspberry Pi biped with an aluminum alloy frame, two servos per leg and an ultrasonic "face". It walks, dances and avoids or follows objects, and SunFounder lists 22 preset actions such as Stomp, Swing and MoonWalk. The Robot HAT adds a speaker for sound effects and text-to-speech. It works like a Raspberry Pi version of Otto, with the Pi bringing Python and Wi-Fi control rather than better walking. A Raspberry Pi and two 18650 batteries (3.7 V, 3000 mAh or more recommended) must be bought separately, along with a charger unless the battery version is chosen. Its siblings PiDog and PiCar-X use the same Robot HAT family.

SunFounder's store shows both versions sold out, with no discontinuation notice. DigiKey US still stocks the kit, and SunFounder kept updating the Python code on GitHub into August 2026.
