Overview
Atalante X is the clinic version of Wandercraft's self-balancing exoskeleton, the first walking exoskeleton that needs no crutches, so people with stroke hemiplegia, spinal cord injury from C4 to L5 or multiple sclerosis can train upright with both hands free. The twelve-motor hip-knee-ankle frame with an articulated ankle walks with a dynamic gait at about 2 km/h, but the self-balancing design makes it heavy at 80 kg and it stays inside the rehabilitation center. FDA clearance came in December 2022 for stroke, February 2024 for SCI T5–L5 and November 2025 for SCI C4–L5 plus MS, and it is CE marked (expanded August 2025) and listed in Australia as a Class IIa device. Wandercraft says it is in use at more than 150 rehabilitation and research centers, and on 2026-10-01 the company bought Ekso Bionics, so it now sits in one portfolio beside the crutch-based EksoNR trainer. The home version with the same balancing technology is Eve.
