Overview
The X Series S is Hypershell's second-generation hip exoskeleton, launched on 2026-05-20 in three trims (Pro S, Max S, Ultra S) that share a carbon-fiber leg lever and folding hip frame and differ in peak power, torque, battery range and shell material (aluminum on the Pro S and Max S, titanium on the Ultra S). It is aimed at hikers, trekkers and everyday walkers who can already walk unassisted, and Hypershell stresses that it is not a medical device. The company grew out of a March 2023 Kickstarter for the original Hypershell that drew 2,638 backers, and by December 2025 it reported more than 30,000 users in 70+ countries, which makes this the most widely sold consumer exoskeleton line so far. The gen-1 X Go, X Pro, X Carbon and X Ultra remain on sale at lower prices, and the four-joint Hypershell Halo sits above the S series. Rivals at a similar price are the Dnsys X1 and VIGX π. The catch is weight, since at about 2.5 kg it is heavier than the 1.6 kg Dnsys X1 and WIM S, and the 72 Wh battery gives under 20 km on the Pro S. All three trims are in stock and ship from the official store within two business days.
